Talon is the perfect book boyfriend!! At first I thought this was going to be a frenemies to lovers story...But it so much more than that. Irie has been on a single minded path to graduation and her future since she arrived. Talon, the BMOC, quarterback with the pros in his future, knew she was the one he could spend his future with. If he can just get a foot in the door. And by the vagaries of chance, they both find themselves taking the same class and the door opens up. Talon is much more than the campus golden boy, or playboy as Irie thinks. Irie isn't ready to trust him and he works to earn her trust and time. A slow sweet burn! They both have things, people, family, who have failed them in some way. This isn't just their love story. It's also their self discovery along the way. Talon and Irie's slow-burn waltz to love and happiness had me hooked from the very beginning!Maturity mixes with alpha persuasion and stubborn pride.Talon has had his eye on Irie for four long years; she has kept him at a distance no matter what he threw at her!Until fate throws him the winning pass...A heart of hearts, sexy -n - sweet,mid-level feel drama with plenty of sass and wittiness mixed in between the storyline, with unique, quirky characters who blended well into the real feel scenario with a taste of fictional bliss!A one-sitting digital cover to cover read- I thoroughly enjoyed!A must-read that's 5 PLUS stars!What a delightful surprise!!! I’m a generation older than the college ages this book encompasses, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! Irie is a fiesty protagonist and I loved her inner strength! Talon knows his own inner self as well, and he knows what he wants. He and Irie have been dancing this ‘dance’ since they were freshman. Most guys would have given up, but Talon doesn’t quit. Irie got burned badly in high school by a quarterback, so she’s very wary of Talon’s attention.I really liked these characters. I loved learning about why they behaved the way they did in the book. I loved the final part of the book even more than the rest of this wonderful book. The ending is one of my favorites by this author and by many authors!Winter Renshaw writes books that cause the reader to want to look deeper into the motivations of her characters. She doles out the information sparingly, which keeps the reader engaged. And she always includes a surprise twist or three. That makes her an auto-buy for me. I’ve not been disappointed by a Winter Renshaw purchase yet!
